Google Calendar

Google Calendar is live!

Sorry 30 Boxes, I've already switched.  Google Calendar is probably the best Google application so far.

Hey, I just wanted to tell you good job on the presentation today. It was fun to work with you and I think the class really enjoyed it:) I think I'm slowly getting over my fear of speaking in front of people. Funny how that happens.

Thanks Sarah :) Good job to you too...at least you weren't talking a million miles a second like me...oh well.

I was thinking that it was too bad that we couldn't ask more questions of some of the other groups. The RFID, wiki, and blue ray ones seemed to get people excited :)

We really are going to buy a PS3 by the way...I've been promising Alex a PS2 for years and we keep holding off on it, hoping the price will go down...well I think we're just going to skip over PS2 completely and go straight for the PS3, I don't care how much it is, at least it's more than just a game console...

Yeah, that Blue Ray Technology sounded cool. I won't be spending over a thousand dollars on the necessary hardware anytime soon. Looks like I'll be using regualar CDs and DVDs for a while:)

I was talking with a co-worker here at the library about some of the new technologies I heard about in today's class. After telling this particular woman about the DVD/CD lock cases she got excited and said we already have them on order. I guess someone has already met with a vendor:)

How cool!

I'm planning on doing an "intern project" for the library here. I'm going to go up to Farmington Community library and check out that automated system that they have there for checking items in. If they allow it I would like to bring a video camera (per co-worker here in Technology) so I may share it with my Technology cohorts. I'm also going to do some research on pricing and if there are competitors in this kind of technology. Should be fun/interesting if you would like to go with me when I go. I'll probably wait till after this semester ends.

I'd be interested! Keep me posted :)

I love those DVD lock boxes! We have self checkout at our branches but nobody ever uses it. I have a hard time promoting it too because I think it's more work for us and the patrons (which defeats the point). The interface isn't good, which also doesn't help. When they have holds they can't check out (which is annoying if you're at a library other than where your holds are at), and it just tells you to see a librarian, which is also the same message it gives you when your pin doesn't work. Also they have to come to the desk for DVDs anyway so they might as well just have us check it out. I think that might be a big reason why Ann Arbor keeps the DVDs in the cases (I wonder what their DVD theft rate is...)

Anyway, it'd be nice if self checkouts could be completely self service.
