TechEssense.Info has a nice post about Information Architecture Books and Resources . I wanted to point it out because I've read a few of these and I'm reading one now so I can support these reads.

TechEssense.Info has a nice post about Information Architecture Books and Resources . I wanted to point it out because I've read a few of these and I'm reading one now so I can support these reads.

Well, here are the two on this list that I've read and I think they're both great:

Information Architecture for the World Wide Web: Designing Large-Scale Web SitesInformation Architecture for the World Wide Web: Designing Large-Scale Web Sites

Don't Make Me Think : A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability (2nd Edition)Don't Make Me Think : A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability (2nd Edition)

These I haven't read but they both sound extremely interesting:

The Design of Everyday Things

The Design of Everyday Things

The Inmates Are Running the Asylum : Why High Tech Products Drive Us Crazy and How to Restore the Sanity (2nd Edition)The Inmates Are Running the Asylum : Why High Tech Products Drive Us Crazy and How to Restore the Sanity (2nd Edition)

And the one that I'm reading now:

Ambient FindabilityAmbient Findability

I'm reading Ambient Findability for my book review assignment in class. I highly recommend Information Architecture for the World Wide Web for anybody who is interested in IA, it's very informative and extremely easy to read...as TechEssense writes:

The nice thing about books in this area is that they're not stuffy, they're (mostly) not geeky, and they're not hard to understand. It's more than just that these people know how to organize information (though that certainly doesn't hurt!); information architects tend to be clever, engaging writers.

I'm finding this to also be true about Ambient Findability, although TechEssense recommends this "sight unseen", I'm recommending it as partially read and enjoying it.

TechEssense also recommends, as online IA resources, Boxes and Arrows and A List Apart. Both are already in my feed reader! I would also add Digital Web Magazine and iaslash. Sometime after I left my old job I replaced most of my web design and IA reads for library ones, but I kept these four for sure.
