One-off document search

If the record you are looking for is available in one of the major online databases, or through a repository with no cost to access, you will receive the record along with a search report.
If the record you are looking for is available but requires an additional cost to purchase physically or digitally, you will receive a search report with steps and costs for locating yourself or ordering through me.
Some records may require access to a library or an archives to access. Any agreed travel or arrangement of local resources would be subject to additional costs.
The search fee is non-refundable, even if it is deemed that the record never existed or no longer exists due to loss or destruction.
London document look-ups
$25 per hour for US customers
£20 per hour estimated for UK customers
I will provide look-ups or research services within the London Metropolitan area. This includes the National Archives at Kew, the British Library, and the Society of Genealogists. If your research requires documents from the London area, please contact me to get an estimate of time and what I can provide from the location you're interested researching.
Additional information:
Travel costs are included within the London area (repository must fall within the London Travel Zone)
Copy fees are an extra cost and charged as is required by the museum, library, or repository
Digital copies of any documents found are included in the cost and will be provided via a Dropbox link for you to download
If you would like the paper copies posted to you, these can be provided at cost of shipping to your home address from the UK
Local research outside of London
$25 per hour for US customers

If your research takes you outside of the London Metropolitan area, please contact me on how I can help you. I am based in Surrey with easier access to the West and the South Coast, including parts of Surrey outside of London, Hampshire, West Sussex, and Berkshire.
Additional information:
Travel will be charged at cost of rail or car journey with any parking fees an additional charge
Entrance fees are charged at cost required by the museum, library, or repository
Copy charges are an additional cost and charged as is required by the museum, library, or repository
Fees do not include accommodation or food expenses
Digital copies of any documents found are included in the cost of the research fee and will be provided via a Dropbox link for you to download

Document searches in the United States
Custom pricing
Whether you're located in the US or the UK, I can help you navigate the different methods of searching for documents state-by-state. Be aware, due to privacy restrictions by many states, some documents may be inaccessible unless by a member of the immediate family. However, some states may have restrictions on documents searches that include releasing them to genealogists. I can help you determine the level of access and the best method of obtaining a record, if possible. If ordering a document search is difficult to obtain by post, then I can also facilitate searches using local genealogists.

Due to the different charges and methods of searching offered by individual states, US document searching is quoted on a case-by-case basis
If you've never worked with me before I may require a base charge of $40 to create a basic profile of your ancestor before starting any document searching request
All charges will be quoted and agreed before commencing a document search, this will include the cost of shipping and any associated charges from ordering the search
All document search fees are non-refundable and are charged whether a document is located or not
Ancestry tree clean
$20 per hour for US customers
£15 per hour estimated for UK customers
If your Ancestry tree is in need of a clean up, I'm ready to help. I can help you verify ancestors, verify sources you have attached to your tree, and clean-up any mistakes imported from shared family trees.
Additional information:
Time is billed hourly as either an open-ended project or with limited terms, which will be agreed before the start of work
I will need full access to your family tree to review and save sources; it is recommended that you save a copy of your existing tree before the start of any work
I will be able to view and save Ancestry sources to your family tree, but depending on your access level you may not be able to view the detail of these sources yourself. I will not be able to provide you images of these sources on this service but will make every effort to describe or verify any information as necessary
You will not get any reported detail of your ancestor on this service and I will not search additional databases or sources, if you would like more reported detail or access to source images, you will need to order a fixed price package for each ancestor of interest
